Why do private yoga sessions with Eileen?
Private or Semi private yoga classes are great for people who would like to build on their yoga practice, have a class with friends and family, or for people who would like to have a specific practice to help them work with their injuries or deal with illness.
Eileen is known by her students as a gifted and sensitive teacher who uses yoga as a therapy for common ailments to meet the individual needs of her students.
She is a daily yoga practitioner and a certified teacher in the Iyengar method of hatha yoga with over 2,500 developmental hours including over 500 hours of therapeutic study.
- This includes apprenticing in classes for people with special needs at Yoga Centre Toronto with Marlene Mawhinney from 1995-2001
- Observing and participating in the medical classes at the Ramamanai Iyengar institute in Pune India, in 2005 and 2010
- Attending the North American therapeutic intensive with Geeta Iyengar in Portland in 2010.
- Completed Parts 1 part 2 of Elise Miller’s yoga for scoliosis.
- She has also completed a 6 part therapeutic course sponsored by the Iyengar Yoga Association of Canada from 2008-2014, with Stephanie Quirk who studied directly with the Iyengars for 20yrs, in Pune India.
- In 2011 she was part of a research project for breast cancer and yoga at the Yoga space Vancouver.
Eileen is a forever student upgrading her skills by studying regularly with Senior Iyengar teachers. Her aim is to transfer this dedication into every lesson taught.

After 16 years of countless physiotherapy, chiropractor and massage sessions and being told that my leg would not get any straighter without a knee replacement, a miracle happened. I met Eileen at her yoga studio and with her help and determination my leg is now almost completely straight and I can walk on my right heel. I certainly was not a believer when she first told me that it might be possible but I am now.
I just wish that I had met her 16 years ago. Because of the continued stress of my uneven gait a great deal of damage has been done to my body. Very slowly but surely I am becoming stronger and more mobile. She is always coming up with new and different ways for me to move my body. I leave the studio feeling so much better than when I went in. Not only is my mobility better, but since taking yoga with Eileen, I even sleep better. A number of years ago we started a wellness program for our office staff. It included bringing a yoga instructor to our office twice a week. The response and acceptance by staff quickly outgrew our limited space making it necessary to relocate to Eileen’s studio. Yoga has become part of many of our staff’s personal practice which has increased their well being, how they feel about themselves and general health. The only thing I’d change is I would have started the program much earlier.”
